Meeting ADA standards isn’t just about checking a box—it’s about making sure every customer, tenant, and visitor can access your property safely and comfortably. At Erickson Concrete, we build and repair concrete ADA ramps that meet federal and state requirements and hold up to heavy use and harsh Minnesota winters. Whether you’re upgrading an existing entrance or adding a new ramp to meet compliance, we’ll make sure the job is done right.

As a locally owned company, we understand the importance of doing things by the book—and with lasting quality. Our team has completed ADA ramp projects for churches, medical clinics, schools, and city buildings across the Minneapolis metro. If your ramp needs to pass inspection or simply needs to work better for the people using it, you can count on Erickson to deliver a solid solution built to code and last.

ADA Ramp Requirements

ADA-compliant ramps are held to specific standards to ensure they’re safe and accessible for everyone, including those using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices. Whether preparing for an inspection or trying to avoid a costly lawsuit, getting the details right is non-negotiable.

Here are some of the key requirements every concrete ADA ramp must meet:

  • Slope: No more than 1:12 (for every inch of vertical rise, at least 12 inches of ramp run)
  • Width: Minimum of 36 inches of clear width between handrails
  • Landings: Level landings at the top and bottom of each ramp run
  • Surface: Must be stable, firm, and slip-resistant
  • Handrails: Required for ramps with a rise greater than 6 inches
  • Edge Protection: Curbs or railings to prevent wheels from slipping off the sides

We stay current with all ADA local building codes so you don’t have to. If you’re unsure whether your current ramp is compliant, we’re happy to look.

Concrete ADA Ramp Construction & Repairs

Our concrete ADA ramp services cover everything from new construction to retrofits and repairs. For new ramps, we handle layout, excavation, forming, and finishing with precision—ensuring your ramp meets every requirement from slope and width to landing size and surface finish. We also install handrails, edge protection, and tactile warning surfaces when needed.

If your current ramp doesn’t meet the code or is starting to fail due to weather or settling, we can assess the issues and make the necessary adjustments. That might mean reworking the slope, extending the ramp, repairing cracks, or removing and replacing the concrete. We work efficiently to minimize disruption and keep your site accessible throughout the process.

Need an ADA-Compliant Ramp? Let’s Get It Done Right.

ADA compliance isn’t something to guess at—especially when safety, liability, and inspections are on the line. When you work with Erickson Concrete, you get a ramp that’s built to code, built to last, and built with care.
